Professional Information

I am an associate professor at the INE department of the Federal University Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, since June 2007. I obtained my PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil (UFSC), with Prof. Joni da Silva Fraga. Previously, from 2001 to 2002, I was post doctoral fellow in Intrusion Tolerance at the Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal. From 1997 to 1998, I also was associate reseacher in Fault Tolerance in the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, my activities at INE/UFSC include research and teaching.

    
My research interests lie in the following areas: dependable middleware, distributed algorithms, intrusion tolerance, distributed system security, fault tolerance, group communication, reliable multicast, and distributed multimedia. See my publications for more information.

Current research projects:
  • MAFTIA - Tolerância a Faltas Acidentais e Maliciosas para Aplicações Baseadas na Internet;
     
  • GroupPac - Um framework para o desenvolvimento de aplicações tolerante a faltas e orientadas a grupo em sistemas abertos;
     
  • MJaco - Implementação das especificações MIOP (Multicast Inter-ORB Protocol) e extensões para difusão confiável (ReMIOP) no CORBA;
     
  • JaCoWeb Security - Um esquema de autorização para redes de larga-escala integrando os modelos de segurança Java, CORBA e Web.
