Abstract:

The present paper describes a teaching practice with Object Oriented modeling in Informatics fresh man curricula. The context is an Introductory Computer Programming discipline, at Santa Catarina University, Brazil. The resultant pedagogic proposal is a synthesis from several ideas of SI authors like Malvino, Nygaard and Meyer. The proposal, titled Thematic Oriented Methodology, represents, somehow, the union of those authors’ visions. The central question is, how this proposed pedagogic perspective affects Informatics curricula? Some conclusions are derived after a long experimental period, pointing out a discussion about this methodology application, not only at fresh man specific discipline but, if possible, to a whole Informatics curricula. Teaching practices examples illustrate the methodology construction and implementation.

Key Words: Teaching Methods, Thematic Modeling, Object Oriented Modeling.
