PROGRAM NAME

vhmed - Median Filter the Image Using Histogram to Find Median (K1)

DESCRIPTION

vhmed computes a two dimensional median filter of width w and height h over the given image. The median is computed by moving a w by h pixel mask over the image and updating the histogram of the mask.

Images must be of data storage type byte.

In rectangular odd windows (masks) the median value is replaced in the center pixel location of the window. The default window size is 3x3.

The width or height of a window cannot be an even number.

REQUIRED ARGUMENTS

-i
type: infile
desc: input image filename
-o
type: outfile
desc: output image filename

OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS

-w
type: integer
desc: window width argument
default: 3
bounds: 1 < [-w] < 32
-h
type: integer
desc: window height argument
default: 3
bounds: 1 < [-h] < 32

EXAMPLES

vhmed -i input.image -o output.image -w 3 -h 3

This command performs median filtering of width 3 and height 3 on input.image and stores the result in output.image.
