DESIGN commands
PROGRAM NAME
xvrun - GUI display & process execution tool
DESCRIPTION
This program displays the graphical user interface of a Khoros software object
as defined by its *.pane file. You may then fill in the values for program
arguments on the GUI, and execute the process using the "Run" button, as you
would when using the program via cantata. This program provides an
alternative to the interactive command line prompting that is offered by the
[-P] option of all Khoros programs. You must, of course, be on a
workstation running X Windows in order to use it.
REQUIRED ARGUMENTS
- -oname
-
type: string
desc: program to execute
OPTIONAL ARGUMENTS

-

desc: toolbox in which to find program
default: {none}
- -args
-
type: string
desc: command line arguments
default: {none}
EXAMPLES
% xvrun -tb datamanip -oname karith1
SEE ALSO
RESTRICTIONS
This program suffers from limitations in the code that error checks
arguments. If you enter bogus arguments for input files, output files,
strings, etc, for the program, you will be prompted for corrections
FROM THE COMMAND LINE. Furthermore, the command line prompts will be
incomplete; ie, they will be something like, "program name: Reenter:",
and will not tell you what the problem was, or what you are supposed to
re-enter. We understand that this is counterintuitive and awkward, and are
hoping to find a solution for the next release.
