SUPPORT commands
PROGRAM NAME
kunpack - unpack a pack file created by kpack
DESCRIPTION
kunpack
is a Perl script which is used to install a Khoros pack file
kcrsum
is typically used in conjunction
with kcksum, kpack, and kunpack,
to create Khoros pack files.
Khoros pack files are a mechanism for distributing changes to software objects.
More information about these tools can be found in
Chapter 5 of the SUPPORT toolbox manual,
which includes a tutorial on the use of kpack and friends.
kunpack will determine the contents of the pack file and
prompt the user for which toolboxes or software objects to
unpack and which files to delete if applicable.
If you have obtained a pack file fruit-2jun96.pack,
you would extract it (or "apply the pack file")
using the following command
% kunpack -file fruit-2jun96.pack
If you unpack the pack file with this command,
you will be prompted every time kunpack is about to
over-write a file.
The prompting can get quite tiresome if installing a large pack file.
You can use the -force switch to suppress this prompting:
% kunpack -file fruit-2jun96.pack -force
