Venue:

The ICTEM 2002 Conference will take place in the city of Florianópolis, SC - Brazil. There are many flights from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to the Hercilio Luz International Airport in Florianópolis (airport code is FLN). There are direct flights from North America and Europe to São Paulo and Rio. You can check routes directly with Varig Brazilian Airlines. Other airlines operate from Europe and North America to Brasil (American Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM, Japan Airlines, TAP, Air France, etc.).

The conference site is Hotel Jurerê Beach Village (JBV).

Please contact the official tourism agency Turisan to make hotel and flight reservation (e-mail: eventos@turisan.com.br; phone: +55-48-2245777). Inform that you are coming to "ICTEM2002" to obtain reduced prices on hotels and Varig flights.

ATTENTION:

American, Canadian and Japanese citizens need a passport VISA to come to Brazil. Most european countries do not have this requirement.
Although there are no cases of yellow fever less than 1500 miles from Florianópolis, it can be required that you take this vaccine before coming to Brazil.

The conference will be completely hosted by the JBV Hotel, and all meals will be served there. The hotel is about 20 miles from downtown Florianópolis and there will be no transportation for people staying in other hotels. We suggest you to stay in JBV for your comfort.

How to get to the Hotel from the Hercilio Luz Airport :

The conference will provide Airport/Hotel transfer for every participant staying at Jurerê Beach Village. Transfers start on July 9. Please send a mail to Dayane Montagna stating your interest in using a transfer and inform the day and time of your arrival and departure from the Hercilio Luz Airport in Florianópolis.

If you are not using the transfer service provided by the conference or travel agency, we suggest you to take a taxi at the airport. The fee should be about R$47,00 (US$18,00) or R$62,00 (US$24,00) at night. Taxis are clearly identified by the word "TAXI" on the roof of the car. Sometimes drivers do not speak English and they may have some difficulty in understanding you. In this case you should be prepared to show the name "Jurere Beach Village" printed in a piece of paper. This could help.

Other options are:

a) Bus - we do not recommend it because the hotel is far (about 35km) from the airport and you need to change buses on the way. But if you want to try, take any bus at the airport (they go to downton). At the terminal in downton take the bus to Jurere. It can take more than one hour.

b) Rent a car - be sure that your driving license is valid in Brasil. You can rent a car in the airport. In Brasil we drive on the right side of the lane. To find the hotel, we suggest you to buy a map at the airport. The airport is located in the south of the island. The hotel is in the north shore. Sinalization will indicate the direction to "Jurerê", that is the name of the region where the hotel is located or "Praias do Norte", which means, "north beaches".
